There’s a couple of things about the next World Cup…..

For the last two major tournaments we have had the easy side of the draw.

We was basically at home for the Euros

We generally don’t travel well to a change of continent ie: conditions etc

I think our stopping/cramming of the PL will count against us. Can also add in distraction as things won’t be sorted ‘League Champions’ etc

I feel the last couple have been really kind to us this one will be a slog…..

"I think that's harsh."

Followed by 10 paragraphs highlighting all his faults in the last few games (which you're not wrong with).

I think that's harsh.

One of England's biggest issues in the past has been the players weren't united. I only really recall a real sense of unity in Euro 96. I don't think that should be under-estimated. When you have international players acting like they are all club players then that's a huge thing and takes a lot of work.

I wouldn't say he was a shite selector. He has pretty much picked a team throughout that almost all the players the supporters would pick. Obviously Grealish has been the main exception who would've been a starter for majority of other people. Obviously Southgate had his reasons which I think were due to him wanting to break from defence with pace. Grealish isn't that type of player and is more suited to a possession game where you wear your opponent down with possession and ball retention.

I questioned Shaw over Chillwell after the first game but was then proven badly wrong as Shaw was excellent. But I do also think his minimal use of Foden was a waste.

But you are always going to have England managers who pick one or two players against the majority view. That's football. But I don't think you can say he is a shite selector because of that.

I do tend to agree with you on substitutes. I think he made some big errors on that. Saka on in the final ahead of Grealish was a major one. We needed to get hold of the ball at that point. Have a player that can get his foot on it and drive us through the middle. Bringing Saka on out wide was an absolute nothing substitution. May aswell have brought me on at that point for all he did.

I also wasn't impressed with Grealish on against Denmark and then off again. I think tactically it was wrong. We needed to hold the ball and Sterling was absolutely dead on his feet. So why he never came off I don't know. I think what he did to Grealish that day was pretty low. Completely unnecessary. But I do think there was something else to it.

Southgate has an unhealthy obsession with Sterling. And I do think the management of Grealish was Southgate telling the media and supporters "I will pick and play who I want, not who you want".

Southgate has been lauded for his selections and subs that show 'bravery' and a commitment to the result and team. But i think he has bought into the hype and started to do things a bit 'left-field' so he can be lauded as a genius or maverick. His penalty taker selections for me were evidence of that. And he got it mind-bogglingly wrong.

Saka as a 19 year old rookie taking the 5th penalty in a European Championship Final. Do me a favour. Rashford and Sancho brought on without kicking the ball to take a penalty in a European Championship Final. Really? Rashford's first ever kick of a ball in anger in a tournament was a penalty in the final. Seriously? All because they were the best in training. Blimey.

Lot's of good for me. I think we have a really good shot at another final in the world cup. Great set of young players and hopefully by then Grealish and Foden will be ahead of others who I think they are much better than.

Problem is, Southgate needs to stop thinking he is a football genius. Just do the simple things. Pick the right players and make the right subs. Stop buying into the hype. Stop obsessing with this legacy for these young men. Just pick the right team and let them go and make their own legacy.

Re: Official Euro 21 thread
Maybe they realise that he was pretty much a Marcus Rashford penalty away from winning the European Championship?

Three years after reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup.

He has his flaws but let’s not talk shit.

Amazed by the Southgate enthusiasts on here and elwhere.

He's a shite selector, both for squad and team, which he fucked up big time when the going got tough, shite tactician and makes shocking use of substitutes.

Oh, but he "brings people together". Great. Let's all hold hands and sing a fucking song. Maybe we can be world champions at Hare fucking Krishna.

Thing is, they'll never get rid now. We're stuck with the fucking gumby.

They literally killed the ball and decapitated goalkeepers if they got near the ball... if they don't score it's because of a wonder save...

Tonka scored with a lot of placed side foots. The 1981 League Cup final for example.

What this cunt said. Absolute fucking wanker penalties and a lad that either the manager should have thought better than to send up or a lad that needs some fucking self awareness. Either way it was RIDICULOUS AND CUNTY.

AND THIS IS THE LAST I SHALL SPEAK OF THIS FUCKING DÉBÂCLE.

Would people still accept a foreign manager?
I wouldn't.

It just doesn't seem right at all. How can a country of over 50m people with the most popular league in the word not find a decent manager out of that? Its mad.

For all the foreign managers we've had the least decorated manager got us to the final of a tournament. Got to be English.

Turns out RASHFORD has been injured the latter part of the 20/21 season which explains his poor form, and will now have an operation which puts him out for the first 2 months of the season.

What a guy.

graham, soldo, not harry 😂

as long as we have political agendas gareth, we'll win nothing. he's more interested in shit outside the game, then what's going on the pitch. psychologists brought in to determine who has the right mindset to take penalties? fuck off

Re: Official Euro 21 thread
To be fair Rashford does that run up alot and he has scored alot of pens for man utd....some of them are massive ones

but Sancho might aswell signposted where he was going to put it.....and he hit it at perfect height for keeper

Re: Official Euro 21 thread
It shouldnt have gone to a shootout the game was there to be won

what the fuck must he of said to them at half time... ' well done lads great half got ourselves in a good position.....right 2nd half go out there and do the exact opposite....oh and Declan....best player on the pitch give me another 20 mins then Hendo is going on for you'

Even at 1-1 game was still there to be won.....he didnt get close.......then decides to put Saka in at 5........the bloke bottled it yet again.......as i said i just dont see us winning anything under him

but yeah, brother Sold0, can't have all that about the one sentence i disagree with without applauding the rest.
He's very much a man in the mould of Sir Trev (who also appointed him twice i think) so i can't see any reason to dislike him.

As I said before, the young lad Saka must have understandably shat himself after seeing the previous two cunts showing off and throwing away the championship.

And Rashford was worse than Sancho. The fuck, shit bastard.

Re: Official Euro 21 thread
Yeah I'll go along with that Stewie... not so much the Sancho one but still don't know what rashford was thinking... he has taken some abolsute worldy pens... I mean literally taken the net off... and then he goes all Max Wall... if he was doing that in training I'd be putting him number 10 in the list
